Statin side effects: The Mega Important Vitamin D

Happy Friday,
So if you are like me, I love the sun and the beach. This is a picture from my balcony on our last trip to St. Marten.  According to some statistics your body can generate 20,000 iu's of Vitamin D3 after being in the sun for only 30 minutes!  Our bodies are pretty smart if you ask me. Vitamin D is an anti-inflammatory agent and our body releases it to combat the suns UVB rays. There is an actual chemical reaction that occurs. It's built into our bodies. So how do Statin side effects have anything to do with vitamin D?  Well Statins lower the amount of cholesterol you have in your skin creating a vitamin D nutrient depletion.  Statins actually take part of the equation away.  Simple right! So what you might say! Well chew on this... According to the American Heart Association, the incidence of heart attacks and strokes goes up over 62% if you are low on Vitamin D3. If you are experiencing increased levels of muscle aches and pains it is possible you are experiencing Statin side effects.

Statin side effects: Memory, Memory, Memory

Happy Monday,
So you can't seem to find your keys or your wallet or your purse. Does this mean that your having statin side effects? Not particularly, but if this happens to you every day and you usually end up in the kitchen asking yourself "why am I here?" It is possible that you are having statin side effects. If you are driving along in your car and you turn to your wife or husband and ask them "where am I right now", "honey I have no clue where I am right now" then you my friend are experiencing serious side effects from your Statin. If you go to Home Depot or Target and you purchase some tools and when you come back to your and open the trunk and notice you had already purchased the same stuff yesterday and it's still lying in your trunk... You have just basically lost time. We're you abducted by aliens and you just realized that they erased your brain like in Men in Black?   No, According to the FDA's MedWatch website over 10,000 people each year experience something called Transglobal Amnesia. This is when you don't even know who you are.  After a few days in the hospital most people come back to normal.
