Statin side effects: The Mega Important Vitamin D

Happy Friday,
So if you are like me, I love the sun and the beach. This is a picture from my balcony on our last trip to St. Marten.  According to some statistics your body can generate 20,000 iu's of Vitamin D3 after being in the sun for only 30 minutes!  Our bodies are pretty smart if you ask me. Vitamin D is an anti-inflammatory agent and our body releases it to combat the suns UVB rays. There is an actual chemical reaction that occurs. It's built into our bodies. So how do Statin side effects have anything to do with vitamin D?  Well Statins lower the amount of cholesterol you have in your skin creating a vitamin D nutrient depletion.  Statins actually take part of the equation away.  Simple right! So what you might say! Well chew on this... According to the American Heart Association, the incidence of heart attacks and strokes goes up over 62% if you are low on Vitamin D3. If you are experiencing increased levels of muscle aches and pains it is possible you are experiencing Statin side effects.
